Welcome to Neighborhood Lit!!

Our mission is to provide a fun and interactive learning environment where kids are motivated to improve their reading and writing skills, develop their strategic thinking, and become life-long lovers of reading.

Our one-of-a-kind reading and writing workshops are focused on improving literacy skills at all levels. Whether your child is a super reader who needs to be challenged or a child who needs a little extra attention, you can be assured that our research-based instruction is designed to develop and accelerate pre-reading, early, and advanced reading skills.

Our fun, interactive workshop sessions use books, games & educational manipulatives as motivational tools. This use of hands-on literacy-based activities encourages your child to manipulate, play, create, and imagine while reading and writing.

Our fun-filled studio is the ideal learning environment with three literacy-rich reading rooms and a "Messy Room" for favorite activities like shaving cream spelling. We incorporate a small group setting (no more than 6 students in a workshop) to ensure each child gets individualized attention - important in the development of skills and for building confidence.

While learning to become better readers and writers, the kids receive useful skill and strategy instruction and have the opportunity to practice and showcase what they learn through the use of fun games and activities. The kids love learning Neighborhood Lit. style. Some of our kid-favorite game and activity choices include: Egg Hunt; Bucket Blast; Hoop Bean Bag Toss; Parachute; Pick-a-Card; Hangman; Freeze Dance; Hopscotch; Hot Potato; Bingo; Find Your Partner; Around the World; Dice Game; Ball Toss; Bowling; HORSE; Dodge Ball; Egg Race; Shaving Cream; Musical Chairs; Baseball; Chalkboard Wall Writing; PlayDoh; and many more.

Program Offerings

We offer weekly 1-hour to 2-hour workshops during both the school year and summer months. Our class schedules are convenient with morning, afternoon, and after-school sessions available. Age groups include:

• Pre-kindergarten (3 & 4 years)
• Kindergarten Readiness (4 & 5 years)
• Kindergarten (5 & 6 years)
• Kindergarten Advanced (5 & 6 years)
• 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th grades
